Likely inhibiting cytochrome P450-dependent demethylation of lanosterol, it prevents ergosterol synthesis, a crucial component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption of membrane synthesis and integrity alters permeability, promotes loss of essential intracellular components, and inhibits fungal cell growth.
